Catch up from the past couple of months:
Creepshow 3
Dead Meat
Death Valley
Zombies Zombies Zombies
The Dead One
Doghouse
Revolting Dead
The Laughing Dead
Days of Darkness
Voodoo Academy

1/3 of the way through now!

Over the past month I’ve had some good zombie viewing – these ones have taken me up to 33% through the list.
The Dead Next Door (good), Ghost Lake (bad but cute guy), Exhumed (weird but good), Creepshow 2 (loved it!), The Zombie Diaries (awful), Nightmare City (mediocre), Zombies: Wicked Little Things (boring), Zombie Chronicles (good ideas but boring), Nightmare in Wax (good), Nightmare at Noon (good but predictable).

A few more checked off the list – Dead & Deader, Kung Fu Zombie, Zombie Planet, Tokyo Zombie, and Night of the Living Dorks.

Untitled

It’s been a while since I posted anything but here’s my most recent progress. I’m still only 27% through the list!

Zombie Rival – The Super Ninja Master, [Rec], Tombs of the Blind Dead 1 & 2, Zombie Strippers, The Living Dead Girl, Die You Zombie Bastards!, Pet Sematary 1 & 2, I Walked With a Zombie, Vampires vs Zombies, Grapes of Death, Hard Rock Zombies, Zombie Holocaust, Zombie Lake, and Creepshow.

Best of the bunch was Hard Rock Zombies which is classic 80s. Die You Zombie Bastards! is one to avoid at all costs, it reminded me of that film GWAR made. Completely tasteless (and that’s coming from a big time zombie fan).

I’ve been getting to watch about one zombie flick a week recently and have caught up with Plague of the Zombies, Fido, Beyond Re-Animator, Flesh Eating Mothers, and Biohazardous as well as Diary of the Dead which was better than I was expecting. Special mention goes to Dead & Breakfast which turned out to be a real gem and I loved it all, from the amusingly cliched characters to the silly dialogue, great gore scenes (especially the chainsaw bit!) and my fave of all, the undead-hillbilly-zombie-singing-narrator.

I’ve watched all of these ones over the past month or so, most of them were pretty cheesy but I’m enjoying watching all the different style of zombies they’ve come up with.

Burial Ground – Night of Terror (aka The Zombie Dead)
The Beyond
Zombie Honeymoon
Boy Eats Girl
Undead
The Serpent and the Rainbow

Untitled

Caught a couple more over the weekend – Flight of the Living Dead and Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things.

Flight… was everything I wanted it to be, OTT, gory, funny and plenty of zombie action. Good idea to have it set on a plane, like they say there is no escape so it’s interesting to see how all the characters deal with the situation. The characters and parts of the storyline were cliched but all in all, a very good Z-flick.

Children… was awful, really slow and not very good characters. The acting was so hammy I kind of enjoyed the performances but the film was still a baddie.

Zombie Flesh Eaters 2

I watched this last night and loved it. Great mix of scary, gross, laughs and dialogue. You can see where other movies have been inspired and similarities occur through the genre. There is the fast moving, strong zombies which are becoming popular in the newer zombie movies. Chained up zombie like in Dawn of The Dead and 28 Days Later. Zombie birds like Resident Evil. And so on.

The idea really caught my interest; the virus is spread by the ashes from a burned zombie’s remains going into the sky and infecting birds who start to attack humans and it all goes downhill from there. I’d never thought about the (im)possibility(?) of the virus being spread into the air by burning before, it was pretty cool.

Resident Evil Extinction

Great film, loved Alice with the knives and the masses of zombies were awesome.
Only things that bugged me were 1. Claire wasn’t wearing the pink motorcycle jacket from the game and 2. Tryant was hardly in it at all and the fight scene was over way too quickly.

Watched a copuple more over the weekend. There is a great list of zombie films on listofbest.com here http://www.listsofbests.com/list/7949
