I had enough funds come back to make a re-loan so today I’ve passed on $25 to a group of women in Nicaragua that sell fruits and veggies. Help people get those five-a-day, girls!

I chose to give my last re-loan today to a farmer as I think it’s a very important profession.
Azer is 39 years old and a shepherd. He has been running his business since 2000 in his home region, Imishli. He is married and has 2 daughters. His main activity is sheep breeding for meat production, and concurrently he is a butcher. Mutton is very popular all around Azerbaijan, and people use it in everyday cuisine. As his business is very popular, he needs to expand and thus applied for a loan of 1200 USD. With this loan he will purchase 20 sheep for an estimated cost of 60 USD each.
Had to loan to this gentleman because he had such a nice, happy photo of him & his kids, and because I love computers. The internet is connecting all of us around the world and I hope this man’s business grows well.
José is 42 years old and is a single father, he is a teacher of elementary school, has 2 wonderful kids who study and help him on his business. For the past 2 years he has dedicated to provide service with an internet cafe, because it is near by a high school most of his clients are students. José is very active and hard worker, this is why he wants so much to keep on with this business because it seams very profitable to him, besides working as teacher on the school. His goal is to keep on growing his business; he wants to invest the money on extending his space, because it is very small.
I logged into Kiva today for the first time in a while and was greeted with a message to say that I have $88.75 Kiva credit! (Not even sure how that works seeing as I only loan $25 a time, shouldn’t it be more like $75??) Anyway, I’m going to re-loan it and hope that I can help more people reach their goals.
First one goes to Mirta from Paraguay. Her husband is an auto body worker and she worked as an artisan (production of tablecloths of ahopo and crochet, which are typical weavings of Paraguay) for more than fifteen years. She learned this valuable profession from her mother as a young child as this activity was an important source of income for her family. She is a very hard-working person and encourages entrepeurism in her neighborhood, encouraging her neighbors to work for themselves. She wishes to continue growing as an artisan and to be able to export in the future.
She looks like a positive and driven lady, and I am glad to help someone who is making a living out of one of my favourite hobbies – good on you Mirta!
Looks like the loans I’ve made previously are having a positive effect as this is the third one I’ve had repaid within a week. Re-loaning the money straight out again and it’s gone to the Kamu Kamu women’s group in Uganda. I love seafood and their plans to buy and sell more fish sound great, good luck!
Winnie Namakonje is the leader and member of the Kamu kamu women’s group in Lugazi, which she joined last year. She is 32 years old and is married with 4 children, but she also cares for an orphan belonging to her late brother. Her husband is a teacher in Lugazi and, together, their dream is to see their children receive the best education possible so that they can have a bright future. She has a business whereby she buys smoked dry fish and mukene from the Senyi landing site and later sells such fish to her customers in Kinyoro and at the daily markets around Lugazi and Jinja. She is seeking a loan to expand her business by purchasing additional fish.
And another one, by chance her name is the same as my other entrepeneur. Good luck ladies!
Rosa is a hard working woman who is always looking to give the best to her family. Along with her husband, she sells pork wholesale, taking advantage of the expanses of land that they own which are adequate for a pig ranch. She has been doing this for 12 years, her constant motivation is to improve her economic situation in order to educate her two children, ages 10 and 9. Her wish is to increase the quantity of pigs in her stable, for which she is asking for this loan.
I had a couple of loans repaid so they’ve gone back out to some more deserving people.
Her simple description could apply to any of us, I wish her and her group well.
Ms. Rosa has accessed loans from Esperanza for four years. She has operated her business for five years. She owns a fruit shop where she sells items ranging from bananas to melons. She is an avid member of her church and also enjoys going to the nearby beach and dancing. Her favorite food is fried fish. Rosa hopes to expand her business by beginning to sell more items such as chicken. This will increase her income and allow her to better provide for herself and her family.
Rosa’s story is just one of a list of men and women who are improving their quality of life through the help of Esperanza’s micro-credit loans. This group has united with a common vision of a better life with faith and hope in their hearts and an unbreakable spirit. Each associates in this bank has a similar business, whether it is selling fruit or operating a taxi service. Thank you for your support.
I chose to fund this loan as the young man requesting it is around the same age as me, and I would like to contribute towards developing his busines. It is nice that this family are working together and that trade skills are being taught to the next generation. I hope his cattle are happy & healthy and that they will provide for this young entrepeneur.
Mahir Shirinov lives in Beylagan, a small city in Azerbaijan. He is 23 years old and is single. He lives with his parents. Mahir is engaged in cattle breeding. He started his business two years ago. His father helps him at his business. Mahir would like to purchase two calves and increase the number of his cows. Because of this he applied to Normicro Beylagan Branch for a loan in amount of $400. He hopes this loan will help him to expand his business.
Mrs. Josefina Hernanez and her husband breed cattle in the municipality of Achuapa of the city of Leon. Throughout the years Mrs Hernanez has sought to improve the conditions of her home by investing a few resources in the restructuring of her home, so she and her husband can offer their two children a better lifestyle.
All their life, the Hernanez have been affected by the lack of electric power since they live in a far away rural area. For this reason they have acquired a solar panel that will provide them with some electricity. Mrs. Hernanez seeks the support of CEPRODEL so they can provide her with a loan and in this way improve the conditions of their home and take full advantage of the electric power the panel generates.
We have a saying here; “An Englishman’s home is his castle.” I am excited to be helping Josefina in building her own castle.
Healthcare is a subject close to my heart right now, so I had to help out when I saw this loan on the Kiva site. Good luck with your business’ ladies, I hope that you may continue to support your families needs.
