Meh.

Wuthering Heights 23 months ago

Boring and with no likable characters. Pedantic storytelling. Nothing interesting from a film making POV. Terrible love story… what am I missing here?

I’m sure the book’s good.

Watched Grapes of Wrath 23 months ago

a.k.a. “First Blood for Communists” Fonda’s great, quality storytelling.

Also, watched “The General” from the new 100 list. Awesome movie. I laughed out loud a lot, and the narrative is clean, fast and exciting – something I haven’t seen from Chaplin’s flicks.

New list, new movies 2 years ago

The new list added a pile of movies I haven’t seen, and took away a pile I had. Grrrr!

I think I’ll attempt to watch all of the first list first, but who knows…

Saw a bunch of ‘em. Midnight Cowboy, Best Years of Our Lives, Butch and Sundance, Sierra Madre, Double Indemnity, and a few I don’t remember off-hand.

BitTorrent is/was the answer.

SUNSET BOULEVARD - great flick! 3 years ago

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043014/

The best lines were in the William Holden voiceover:

It sure was a cozy set-up. That bundle of raw nerves, and Max, and a dead monkey upstairs and the wind wheezing through that organ once in a while.

Later on, just for comedy relief, the real guy arrived with a baby coffin. It was all done with great dignity.

He must have been a very important chimp.

Short review: I loved it. I really didn’t expect a movie over 50 years old to rope me in. Movies like this are my reason for trying to see these classics.

WORTH IT!

...that’s all the farther I got before the wife made me turn it off at 11:00. I hope to “Dandy” soon!
