I stopped keeping track on 43things sometime in November, but I think this was one of the few goals I was still working on. I became very interested in my race and racism class during November I buried myself in books focused on the topic. Since those books weren’t required reading, I’ll take those as my November reads. In December my friend gave me Fight Club and The Five People You Meet in Heaven as a gift. I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven first, and I couldn’t put it down. The books is my book for December. I’m going to read Fight Club before January ends.

I finished reading Devil in the White City a couple weeks ago. I’ve been busy with work, midterms, and papers for the last two weeks. Now that I’ve got the midterms and papers finished, I can get back to doing some leisure reading again.
I was looking through all the books I own, and found one book that I haven’t read yet, Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. It was assigned reading back in high school in a World Religions class I was taking. I don’t think the class ended up reading the book. I’ll start reading this book soon. I should also go visit Borders and pick up some of the books on the list.
Book List
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
Monthly Check
- September: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
- October: Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
Well September is almost over and I did mange to read one book. Finished The Alchemist a couple weeks ago. Loved the book. Learned a couple lessons from that read. I picked up one of my old books I read from high school and started rereading it, The Devil in White City by Erik Larson. Good read. I think I’ll count it as an October book. Still have three books I’m planning to read. I’ll put them down here to remember once I finish The Devil in the White City.
Possible books:
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom.
I use to read a lot when I was little. My dad use to take my sister and I to our local library every other week, and I’d always make sure to finish everything I had borrowed. During high school, I became too lazy to read outside of the required text. A couple months ago I bought Wicked by Gregory Maguire. After finishing it, I felt weird not having a book around to read. My interest in books and the stories and lessons they hold rekindled. Since then I’ve been grabbing at least one or two books to read each month. Added this goal to remind me to have something to read all the time.
Finished Catch-22 by Joseph Heller in August, just started reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho for September, and I’m planning to read Fight Club and Choke by Chuck Palahniuk after that.
Any suggestions for future readings would be great.
