Georgaina, Duchess of Devonshire – Amanda Foreman
I would have never even looked at this book if I hadn’t watched The Duchess. The movie really sparked my interest and in watching interviews I discovered there was this book so I went to the libary soon after and picked it up.
Normally, bibliographies don’t interest me at all, and the idea of reading an historical one never even crossed my mind till I saw Georgaina’s story.
I’m extremley glad I’ve read it, history is a big interest of mine and Georgaina was a real inspiration to people I was fascinated by her life. I also saw how inaccurate the movie was, granted it was great and things had to be changed to make it an enjoyable watch but my feelings towards the characters changed immensley when reading the book. I hated Bess a whole lot more by the end, and also didn’t hate the Duke because he wasn’t as bad as the movie made out.
I’ll deffinitley look out for more books on historical people.
