build a yurt

This is something I and a couple of my friends have wnated to do for a long time, to have a (possibly) nudist sustainable yurt community, that is. We almost bought some property last year do start working on.

I’ve been drawing up little ideas for yurts in AutoCAD for a coupel of years now. I’ve been trying to figure out a good, elegant, way to build a two story yurt lately. I’m thinking to do it all with rough cut pine timber, post and beam style.

I’m thinking it’d be fairly easy to build a spiral staircase from a 10” dia. log, ten feet tall or so. You could cut slots through the middle of it and stick a bunch of thick triangular planks into it for steps.
