Cheap, easy and effective.

I’m a fan of mascara, and although I cleanse my whole face thoroughly every evening (using Lush’s 9 to 5 and a hot damp flannel or muslin, skincare fact fans!), sometimes this doesn’t remove all my mascara and I wind up with dark panda smudges under my eyes. I resent paying for separate eye makeup remover so I made my own following a recipe I found here. It takes about five minutes.

Basically it’s 10ml of baby shampoo mixed with enough water to make it up to 60ml (in a jug, don’t whisk and form foam), then topped up to 90ml with almond oil. You can also use castor oil or baby oil if that’s your bag. Then decant it into a clean bottle.

It works really well and has taken off every scrap of my eye makeup. But next time I think I’ll put a bit less almond oil in as it left my eyelids feeling a bit oily and kind of clouded my vision a little for a few minutes.
