back to square one..  — 1 year ago

..got fired today from that s@#^$* place I’ve been working at for the last three days..

Sadly the factory I was working for and the industry branch in Israel in general are trying to compete with the Chinese industry market.. by trying to do so they make most of the Israeli industry workers into slaves:

  • they demanded 12 hours straight of work with almost no toilet breaks and no water drinking breaks so that they would produce max products!!! (just a half an hour lunch break). this action is against the laws here, work places aren’t allowed to demand more than 8 hours a day, but since there is no strong leadership that would make sure this happens, a lot of Israeli companies do not acknowledge the local laws as a policy!!
  • the slavery at the sweatshop didn’t pay off for me although I did read yesterday at the company’s web site that they make about 50 million $ a year by exporting these products abroad.
  • I got many bruises and aches from the physical challenge..

They fired me after I told them that I’m not going to stay more than 8 hours.

I need a job to get the money needed for plan D… I am willing to compromise on many aspects of the desired job place but I do have my red lines, specialy when it comes to my health.

As it currently looks like, finding a decent temporary job in the Galilee which will pay off seems like almost an impossible dream.

First thing first – I’m gonna need some rest from the job I just finished with and try again next week..

worked my ass off today at a sweatshop for 12 long hours  — 1 year ago

..at an Israeli plastic factory…

Unfortunately, during these times, the “slave sweatshops” around these places of Israel are becoming more dominant for work opportunities for people my age.

And I need the money…

I haven’t had a physical challenge like this one since my basic training time period back in 2000 when I was 19.

The machines at the factory never stop – creating chairs, kids houses, dog houses, toddler mini pools and all kind of shit -a product pops out of the machine every 15-20 seconds.. and each product needs to be dealt with within that frame time (examined, cleaned up, assembled and packed up).

Wait, that’s not all, it get worse – The factory doesn’t have many workers in this specific week because the Muslim workers have holiday until the end of the week – that’s why they demands us to do that exhausting work almost non-stop (only one 30 mins break for lunch).

There are a lot of Muslim workers in this factory :(

BUT, I have decided recently that I am going to give my best shot at earning as much money possible to fulfill Plan D – all the suffering is worth it when I remember that with each product I pack I get closer to fulfilling it :)

As for now I need to suck it up and give as many hours I can in the sweatshop for the next month (including Fridays and Saturdays) – by the end of this week it’s going to change back to 8 hours instead of 12 (when the Muslim workers would come back from their holiday).

Wish me luck guys.

p.s – this type of work reminds me of that scene with Chaplin from “Modern Times” (see attached photo)
