I’m feeling so very stressed lately. I was doing well paying off my debt and I was nearly done but then it seemed like everything happened all at once. I had to spend $1600 for school, I moved to a new apartment, I ran out of money and NEEDED to use my credit card to eat, I had to take a pay cut at my job, then after the pay cut I was sick for a week on top with not enough leave time. So I went from about $1000 to $2700 in debt on my credit cards. Now because of my pay cut and that I moved to a more expensive apartment there really is no end in sight. I’m looking for another job but unfortunately this job is one of the best paying in town for a college student. I don’t want to have to get a second job and I definitely don’t want to get out of this job without a better paying sure thing.

I was getting so very close for a while. I had all but one credit card paid off. Now I put some necessary expenses on another credit card. At least they were necessary and I didn’t get out of line though. But now with summer nearly over I’m going to need to start putting money on my credit cards again. It’s really going to suck, I’ll have to put on at least $1600 but probably more. I’m trying to put in as much overtime as I can but I’m going to be moving to a new apartment in a week and that is going to be another strain on my budget. Well I’ll see in a week how much more in debt I am. It will be pretty harsh, even if I can clean out a credit card entirely I will still have to put my fall classes on the card by next week. It’s going to be a long few months.
Looks like it may be easier than I thought to pay off my credit cards. At my job they just released a summer incentive program with some of the overtime hours they offered being nearly $20 for one hour. It’s looking pretty good. Also I was worried that I would quit the job if I couldn’t get a good shift but I got a great new shift. Things are looking up, I can actually start saving.
Well, my job just offered a new incentive plan that will pay even more when I work overtime. So now if I take a 2 hour shift during the overnight hours I’ll get $60 total for that shift. Pretty awesome. I think I’ll be out of debt in no time with that. Well I guess that’s out of credit card debt, not my student loan debt which I won’t have to pay since I’m still a student. (I just pretend it’s not there).
I wracked up my credit card debt on correspondence courses, clothes, shoes, jewelry and tech stuff. I have $20,000 in student loans so far. My goal is to get the credit cards paid off first. Then get $2000 in savings with a minimum balance of $1000 in checking and hopefully starting a CD.
