Depleted and spent
Your words not relevant.
I own the truth,
While you hold your version.
My nurturing addiction,
To your chosen affliction,
Is my only regret.
But I can’t fix you.
With your Bible full of answers
And a God that shines for you,
Always pointing fingers
At transgressions you construe.
(But if they only knew you like I do).
My path illuminated has room for only two.
An introspective journey
A God that shines on cue.
But this God shines on all of us,
Just not only you.
See what you want to see in me,
A selfish soul in apathy.
All the things in me you hate,
The very traits you emanate.
I see an imposter posing as me,
Slowly stealing my identity.
Pick the pieces that suit you well
Shrewd and convincing, they can’t tell.
A maternal kind of anomaly
Lacking love and empathy.
Never take accountability.
Now I know what not to be.

Hiding behind my soul’s decor,
I’ve always known there’s something more.
Omnipotent presence not ignored,
Drives me from within.
The architect of my own life.
Blueprint to avoid the strife.
Pain that cuts you like a knife,
Surrenders all the answers.
Wonder why the mold won’t fit.
Can’t conform to the secular skit.
Artificial people, counterfeit.
Subsiding in the charade.
No longer need you to affirm,
Transcendent outcomes of this term.
Faith and credence will confirm,
This journey we call life.

Soft petals seem to fill a hole.
The stem of change is the root of pain.
Observe my glorious garden.
The leaves represent my pulsating veins.
Angel’s breath of fresh air into a new life.
Little characteristics bring a lot of pleasure.
Roses dipped in the blood of Jesus.
White as his pale dead face.
Looks down upon me now as we both watch the flowers.
We know they’ll soon die.
Take my flowers (relief) from me.
Plant them in the garden of heaven for sweet angels to stare upon.
Let Jesus walk on the petals with his scarred feet.
Maybe he’ll feel relief too.
(Okay, so I know this doesn’t really count, but it’s a start! Have you ever seen fire and ice roses? My favorite.)
