Okay so I am on holiday in Spain we leave our villa to drive to the airport in plenty of time, it is about an hours drive away so we leave at 7:15pm for the 9:50pm flight. Unfortunately, the motorway to the airport is traffic jammed – we sit the traffic jam for ages and ages getting increasingly nervous. We can’t reroute because the only map we have is the crap one that you get with the hire car. We are listening to a CD of old classic tunes – Mack the Knife, Volare, Theme from James bond etc and getting more and more nervous. Eventually, I get so paniced that I decide to drive along the hard shoulder (very naughty) we made it about 50 metres before a massive truck (and presumably massive angry truck driver) decides to deliberately pull over and block the way – I don’t ram him out of the way using my Jack powers though and merely meekly pull back onto the motorway. Next I decide to come off the motorway and look at our options so I pull of the motorway go round the roundabout and then rejoin (cunningly gaining about 500m using this cheeky technique). We get a bit further before being diverted off the motorway – the whole motorway was block by a crash with a truck and bus. I then manage to get trapped in some kind of university campus – a this point we are 30 mins before the flight leaves and I might be driving quite quickly (but safely). There are no exits from the university car park that I am trapped in – really bad news. I am shouting where are the exits , the god-damn exits…. Anyway eventually we escape and shreeek up to the airport and abandon the car in front of the airport in the manner that would cause an bomb scare in London but in Spain they are more relaxed. We run to the desk and find we have missed check in by 20 minutes and missed our flight.
We book on the next flight (the next day).
Okay so what would Jack have done (apart from not miss the flight….)
