spend an entire day watching the extended version of all three Lord of the Rings movies back-to-back-to-back

Over the past few weeks, I have been re-watching these. For a distraction while doing some of my evening work, I like to have the TV or a movie on. With nothing of interest, I put the Lord of the Rings trilogy on. I wanted to watch them on the big screen, but it was not set up.

After 4-5 days, I got through all 3 movies. Then, I decided to re-watch with commentary. So, I watched all 3 with the director’s commentary, and then with cast commentary. It has taken 3 weeks or so of watching to get through the movies 3 times. I don’t think I will be watching the other two commentaries available. I also don’t think I will be doing a single sitting run for quite awhile.

When we are done with our basement, we are putting up a projector. One of our first weekend fun things is going to be watching these movies. We’ll be inviting friends and family over if they care to attend. I’ll watch them by myself if it comes to it.

Only one theatre in Omaha was doing the back to back extended versions when Return of the King came out. Tickets were sold out in 20 minutes and we didn’t get any :( I don’t know if we could have gotten 12 hours of childcare anyway since the plan had been to take my parents too.

When we finish our basement, we are going to have the marathon and I know my mom will come. :)
