Gilles Deleuze was one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. He wrote in the field of French post-structuralism, often by himself and often with Felix Guattari. Their ideas are challenging, daunting, exciting and baffling. I’ve got this sneaking suspicion that they are saying something very meaningful, but the language is so impeneterably dense I’ve heaps of trouble understanding it all. Or any of it. I thought I knew but recently when I was trying to explain their contribution to theory and philosophy, I realised I didn’t know my reterritorialisation from my immanence and really couldn’t say a thing. Is it genius or is it all a load of crap? If only I could tell.
