make friends

I’ve really become strong acquaintances with several people through my time at college. I consider them friends, but I still haven’t had the time and devotion to do anything with any of them outside of class. I am going to do that this summer.

I’ve switched majors from Culinary to Digital Media. Since my primary hobby is electronic music, I’m finding that I’m running into a lot more people that I feel I have something in common with. Also, perhaps this will lead to working together on projects with other people. That would be great.

Being in school, now.. the environment and atmosphere makes it so much easier to interact with other people. It kind of just happens at times.. people talking with each other. We’ve got some common ground, and in some cases have similar interests.. while being uniquely different individuals that have things about them that are interesting and as yet unknown. I’ve always loved people, and am so scared to death, but happy.. to be out in the world again with some reason to be involved in a conversation with people.. outside of this empty room all night watching the computers. I’m not even really interested in computers.

The people in my computer class are friendly folks, with whom I’ve started interacting with on a personal level.. that is to say we’ve had some conversations about something other than class. They initiated the conversations, but it’s really nice to be in an environment with other people again.

Going back to college actually puts me in an environment full of people.. many of whom I know share some common interests. The whole thing is rather intimidating, especially after years of being cooped up in a room all by myself during a 3rd shift job for almost 4 years.

There was potential to make a friend at the play group I take my toddler to, but I won’t be going there any more now that I am starting school.. but school will offer more opportunity to meet others, since I’ll actually be seeing and interacting with people on a regular basis.
