spend more time with my son

We recorded vocals for my song absurd song ‘Indelible Pop Song’ and had quite a bit of fun. For only 4 years old, He really rocks it out with the microphone. I’m not sure how much I’ll use of his stuff, because he really shakes the mic stand a lot and it rumbles.. but there’s some bits that will make it to the album.

Today (Sunday) we went out to Pisgah National Forest and went hiking and grilled some sunshine burgers, and had baked beans and cabbage. We had a great time, and he was so exhausted on the way home! Usually when we are out there, we take time to feed the rainbow trout, but he was too tired by the time we got back to the car. Happy times.

Well.. since I changed majors from Culinary to Digital Media.. I dropped all but one of my classes. So for this summer, I have a lot of time that I can spend with him. Well, relatively speaking, since I’m still working my 45+ third shift hours. He dropped a toy on his toe a little over a week ago, so we’re waiting on it to heal up a bit more before we go out hiking, but we’ve had fun other ways.. going to the playgrounds, playing “kitchen” with his toy food, playing with numbers cards, even he (at 3 years old) and I have worked on some of my music together. Hopefully we’ll get to go to Zoo Atlanta this summer, just before he turns 4.. he loves giraffes, and they have a some there.

It’s tough, with me working a full time job 3rd shift, and going to school full time during the day (to get out of this 3rd shift job).. I see so little of him. It breaks my heart that I don’t get to spend as much time with him as I did before I started school a week ago.. especially because he makes it so clear that he misses playing with me all morning like we did.
