Still hard, but...

...am getting better at this. Or at least: it’s easier to define the causes of me not going to bed on time and doing something about it (like sternly reminding myself of my bedtime). Also, knowing that I will be wanting to do yoga in the mornings really motivates me to try and get to bed on time.

Slipping through my fingers

Lately I’ve been working way too much. I didn’t mind, work was a blast, but this meant that I would often have to work at night and/or deal with my private stuff like e-mail or financial administration late at night. Not good! Also, my meditation practice was/is suffering. I’ll have to recommit to this goal and really limit TV and internet usage to the absolute minimum at night…

What helps...

What helps is one of my other goals: learning yoga. I now go to yoga class twice a week at night. It helps me relax and when I get home, I do not switch on the TV and try to avoid using my laptop. Instead, I play some nice music, read a book, burn some incense and dim the lights. This really helps me to get to bed on time. Falling asleep is no problem; usually when I see a pillow I’m gone. But the getting to bed early part, that’s what has improved… A good thing, too, since I have to get up quite early in the morning. ;)

I need to get back in the working life rhythm

I will be starting a new job in February and will have to continue sleeping 8 solid hours whilst getting up earlier. I think I should try going to bed at 11 pm at the latest in order to get my biorhythm back in order- have had a couple of weeks off and immediately reverted to my “natural” rhythm which means that I am up until 2 am doing all kinds of stuff when I should be getting to bed…
