The gym is bad ... 3 years ago

Last night I convinced myself to go swimming and planned to swim for 30 minutes.

Unfortunately on my 6th lap somebody swam into me hitting my head really hard. It was so hard I was stunned and sort of floundered in the pool for a while. I did manage to continue to swim for a total of 22 minutes when I had to get out because of a headache, which I’ve still got this morning.



Its not much, but its a start 3 years ago

The last two Sundays I’ve been to the gym and been swimming. Previously I hadn’t been swimming for about a year and half so it is great that I’ve started again, however I know I need to do a little bit more work to shift the weight I’ve put on in the last nine months (the interesting thing about the weight I’ve put on is it seems to be only in three places, my bust, my tummy and my thighs)



I went to the gym last night for the first time in almost two months 3 years ago

I’m really pleased that I managed to run on the treadmill for the first time in several years, but I guess my recovery walking was slower than last time, because I only managed the same distance in 30 minutes (and that time I didn’t have a sport bra on either) http://akg-darktea.livejournal.com/2006/03/04/

I also weighed myself and oh dear I seem to be back at the point when I started losing weight http://www.43things.com/entries/view/72467 I now weigh 67kg and have 27% fat



Funny thing happened at the gym yesterday 3 years ago

I got to the gym and realised I’d forgotten several bit of clothing. It was my third attempt at going to the gym this week and knew if I went home I wouldn’t go back so I tried to be creative.

Socks – wear the socks I’d worn during the day
Bra – a little more tricky, especially because I was wearing a bravissimo top with a bra saw in (yes I’m a bravissimo girl and that gives a clue to the problem) so I couldn’t just wear my usual bra. In the end I wore my bravissimo top hoping it would be good enough.

I’ve been asked if I’d like to join in a work team for Race for Life. I haven’t run since I did one of these a few years ago so I said I’d think about it. Therefore my plan for the gym was to see how far I could run in 30 minutes (my last time I think). This was no longer an options because my top was not supportive in the same way as a sports bra and it was low cut (see picture) which meant all the wobberling and quivering was quite noticeable! I had to walk at a slow speed, but the good news is I did 30 minutes (I usually get bored after 10) and I wasn’t out of breath at the end despite the gradient I put on it.



I tried this morning 3 years ago

I packed my bag and then forgot to put it in the car!

I suspect its been 3 weeks since I last went, although some of that has been due to illness, but I want to go back and I want to exercise.



I talked myself out of not going to the gym yesterday 3 years ago

I meant to go at lunchtime, but meetings got in the way so said I’d go on my way home from work. I had a conversation similar to this in my head while I was in the car

-You’re ill you can’t work out
-I can manage a gentle walk
-It might make you feel worse
-In that cae I’ll stop
-It will be really busy
-Yes it might be
-You don’t like it when its busy
-No I don’t
-There’s no point going then
-I can have a look to see if its busy
-But you won’t want to go when you get there
-Lets put a measure on busy, if I can’t easily find a parking space I won’t go

I went (and it was busier than I liked), but I did a fair workout



Finally made it to the gym again 3 years ago

and it seems I’m not as unfit as I thought I was.



I tried yesterday for the first time in a while 3 years ago

and when we got there they said they were closing in 10 minutes so we weren’t allowed in!



I'm on a roll 4 years ago

I bought myself some new gym clothes over the weekend so I can go to all the gym classes I want without having to wear sweaty clothes.

I’ve just come back from a bodyjam class and I’m booked on to bodypump this evening – two classes in a day wow!



I tried a new class tonight 4 years ago

A new class started at the gym tonight – bodyjam – and although I don’t tend to like aerobic classes I gave it a go. My feet got in a mess, but I think I’ll give it another go.
