I like cogdog’s entry – adding something of value, plus blogging it out to allow for better tracking of ideas through permalinks and encouraging participation through comments – and think that’s the killer solution. Add something useful to the web and make it search-friendly.
I’ve decided to add a tutorial on Ruby to my weblog and I’ve already seen a massive spike in traffic. I wouldn’t say I’m anywhere near being well-known yet, but focusing in on one area has really helped so far, both respect to gaining an audience and clarifying my goals.
