I know its New Testament but I had to read it for a course I’m doing.
What a lot of parables and miracles and good doings, to quote Ned Flanders.
Mark was the first and it shows.

Umm, its the first book about kings.
Its a history, with lots of problems, of Israel and Judah.
2 Kings is next.
David becomes King
Is naughty and suffers
Lets think about it.
But is does have a Footloose quote :-)
6:14 “David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might”
Errr – its about Samuel
And Saul (naughty boy)
And David (Yurrahh) (who kills Goliath – boo)
Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S17Mvfx2Z5g for the David and Goliath story.
Well that was short and to the point. The story of Ruth, not much else except it flags up the lineage of David and therefore Jesus’s mums husband.
“Its what it says on the tin”
IE The Israelites are naughty, get judged and be good before being naughty again. And again and again.
Who cut off Samsons hair?
Clue: It wasn’t Delilah.
Joshua takes control, goes on a rampage and wins all the fights, carves up the lands and dies.
I found it VERY violent, which surprised me. Achan steals a treasure so all his family is stoned to death!
Not very christian. Thank God for Christ.
The same story 3 times and tons of laws, I mean hundreds.
I love the one where every person born outside of marriage is prevented from entering the Assembly of God i.e. heaven. Oh, and all their descendents for 10 generations therefore if any of your parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents, 16 great great grandparents, 32 great great great grandparents, 64 great great great great grandparents, 128 great great great great great grandparents, 256 great great great great great great grandparents, 512 great great great great great great great grandparents OR 1,024 great great great great great great great great grandparents were NOT married then you are in trouble. By the way, that’s 1,023 marriages to have occurred.
There’s a fact to stop those who use the bible to condemn others. I know I fail due to a great great grandparent born out of wedlock a not uncommon occurrence in those days. We can’t trace any further back up that line.
Onto to Joshua
It is what is says on the can :-)
A large number of Israelites get chucked out, go for a wander, are censered and get home.
Why were there so many rules ?
Why don’t we still have Sabbath YEARS or JUBILEE ?
Why do some people insist on using this to continue some rules today, surely all of them or none of them ?
