i was originally planning on going to college this fall to pursue my love of history and art, to get a degree in historical preservation.
i’ve been thinking and praying though, and i feel like helping people is what i should be doing. in the end, success means nothing, only what i’ve done for others.
i asked my mom (an RN) what i should do if i want to help others medically. she said a BSN would be appropriate because they focus more on public health.
in the end, i want to work with the homeless. even live with them. to understand the poor you must understand poverty. and you cannot understand poverty if you are at arm’s length of it.
i want to help the addicts, the aids victims, the hungry and dying. i figure getting a degree would be a resource i could use. compassion is somewhat useless without something to offer.
i did well in my advanced biology/anatomy class. hopefully i will be able to accomplish this goal in order to serve others and in turn serve my god.
any advice is appreciated. i’m 18 and not too well informed.
