Our first box

Got our first box of organic produce last week from Tierra Miguel Farms. Must admit that I thought it was going to be a bit bigger…but then I realized we cannot eat that much produce anyway. It came with recipes…good thing because I’ve never eaten a couple of those veggies.
We had garlic, yellow onions, daikon, watermelon radishes, cabbage, carrots, rosemary, beets, oranges and mandarins. WOW…it was sooooo good. We are definately not going to need any veggies for awhile. The fruit is almost gone.

Better yet...

...have the Farmer’s market come to me!! yay…we just decided to sign up for six months of fresh, local, organic produce delivered biweekly to our home. Can’t wait for our first box!!

Well, I used to go to this little tiny market, actually more of a produce stand around the corner from my apartment. You never knew when it was going to be there, so I’d take as much stuff as I could each time I was there. He “closed” a long time ago. Now I get my produce at an Armenian market near home, it’s very good and pretty cheap too. But, of course it’s never the same as a Farmer’s Market. Today I was in downtown Glendale and I went to the Farmer’s Market…after saying I would for months!! And it was on the spur of the moment. I got great heirloom tomatoes, cilantro, parsley, asian pears, apples and squashes.
