Surround myself with beauty

When I went to the Mall of America, I bought a loon! Well, not a real one, obviously, but a wood decoy (not life-size) He fits right in with my lighthouse print, my nest and my pine cones.

I have this whole beachy-nature theme going on with my living room…nothing over-the-top or tacky, but I have been trying to make it remind me of our trips to Traverse City and Lake Superior. Last trip we brought back a whole bunch of beach rocks and I have them in a basket by the doorway to the kitchen. We also bought a print of the Grand Traverse Light, which goes nicely with a twig nest and eggs (not real) from Traverse City and a basket of pine cones from South Carolina. The one thing I have in there that doesn’t really go with the theme is a hanging vase filled with lucky bamboo. But it would be a lot of trouble to take it down and move it, so it stays for now. Once I have the money to replace the carpeting, which is green, I would like to paint the walls a pale smoky silvery blue.

keep fresh-cut flowers in the house, buy nice artwork and photographs, keep everything CLEAN
