Two steps forward 6 months ago

I have minimised the clutter on the outside. There are now 6 plastic containers and one box housing all the things I am going to sell and two boxes of stuff for charity.
Once I have sold the six containers – mainly clothing, then I plan on tackling the clutter hidden in cupboards.
It felt so good to finally finish after four days almost everything has a place.

Stumbling through 13 months ago

We managed to declutter the wardrobes… I actually gave things away this time… no waiting to sell it on ebay… straight to the good sammy’s bins or the africa clothing bins with 6 bags… sold maternity clothing on ebay… gave 2 bags of maternity stuff to a girl at work… gave 3 boxes and 2 bags of baby stuff to two people due in the next couple of months… gave an unwanted gift to someone for their services that wasn’t expecting anything… packed up baby clothes ready for ebaying… cleaned out the kids toys and sent a box to good sammys… gave a bag of skinny clothes to one of Mums friend’s who has lost weight through a breakup.
Still have heaps to go, but we are getting better I think…
One room at a time is how I’m working it…

Damn Christmas 23 months ago

I can’t help but think of Grumpy Old Woman when it comes to Christmas presents as you sit there looking at the gifts you are given thinking who can I give this to. I had decluttered a shelf in the linen cupboard by using last years unwanted presents for regifting only to fill the empty space with new items post Christmas.

Baby Clothes 2 years ago

I unpacked all the baby clothes and washed them all again, sorted them so that I had ones to keep and ones to sell and ones to give away. Tried listing some on ebay – but it is the wrong time of the year for that. So I have 3 nappy boxes stuffed full of clothes to sell whilst on maternity leave.
I rearranged the nursery and have everything ready for our new arrival.
Time to check the regifting cupboard for xmas presents for the needy and work or daycare people.

Loosing Control 2 years ago

It suddenly dawned on me that I was once again loosing control and letting the clutter back into my life. The past 3 days have been effective declutter and cleaning up. There are now 8 clean rooms in my house. On the surface, face of it, the bathrooms, laundry and kitchen are done, there is only one room still to declutter, but the door is always closed there.
I’ve started to attack the ebay corner again and try to make that smaller. Sold quite a lot but give it a rest as the last lot was stressful with two items going missing in the post. Still have to claim for them.
So now I have rewarded myself with coffee and cake as I am back in control of my clutter and possessions.

Plans change 2 years ago

I’ve begun the listing exercise and have 16 items finishing in 2 days and another 26 ready to list after they finish.

It is amazing the energy that I have found to do this now that it looks like I’ll have another clutter maker in the house in 8 months time!!!

Clutter is building again 2 years ago

I was just getting on top of the clutter and I received another 6 bags of clothes and My son has had his 2nd birthday so now we have a whole new range of toys to add to the clutter.

I’m going to have to sell some more things on EBAY. Plan a day -will have to be in 3 weeks due to commitments to make more Ebay listings.

Ebay is good.... 2 years ago

I’ve sold all the clothes, one batch of soft toys and a heap of CDs. It’s given us over $200 which has mainly been spent on collectables for my husband or things to make the little boys room more comfortable like a sheet set for his new bed.

Have had a break from Ebay this week, although I have taken some photos and started to write up the auctions. Found my old 1982 game&watch games in one of the 3 boxes I still had to go through – that will be listed soon and hopefully fetch a nice price, one is still in box.

Sometimes I wish I was able to work just parttime so that I could get through all of this stuff sooner. I find it so difficult working fulltime and with a 21 month old to keep on top of the clutter.

Next project - 2 years ago

Now that we no longer have a clutter room and there is only one box left to be sifted through,3 boxes of stuff to create homes for and declutter to sell.

The next projects are to:
1. Sell declutter to buy make money to buy storage items for the bits that were decided on to be kept.
2. Go through the cupboards and remove items that haven’t seen the light of day in over 24 months.

Sold more items on ebay 2 years ago

The declutter is almost complete, other than the selling of the clutter on ebay – but I think we will move this to a new goal.

The last lot of items listed on EBAY sold for over $65 for the 14 items. Will be listing another 28 over the next two days. So not only am I minimising the clutter I’m turning it into money with which I can buy homes for the items that we chose to keep or put towards a set of draws for the little boys room now that it’s cleaned out sufficiently to turn it into a bedroom.
