I am sorry that I ever went down the road to getting a PhD. But there it is, and here we are. Now I am so far down that road I have no choice but to see it to the end.
I am marking this done even though I do not have my PhD yet. See me over at “Finish my PhD” which is more specific and more what I want to do. (There is no mark for intermediate goals or change-overs. I am not giving up, but it is not done. What is a person to do?)
I suspect that finishing a PhD is worth it, but getting a PhD is not. At least for me! Your mileage may vary.

My degree will be in Psychology. Either it will be with my old advisor and fast, though not working on the research I want; or it will be slow and with a masters degree first and a lot more ambiguity. Still thinking about each path as I fill out all the forms.

Becuase a PhD is a union card, and without one many jobs I would like to do are closed to me. Not becuse I have the delusion that it will make me smarter or a better person. :-)
