I think, for me at least, that this goal was too ill-defined. I did it, but it did not get me anything. Better to focus on specific things.

Well, I’ve been getting closer to this goal. I will be back in a PhD program in less than a month so one way or another I’ll be doing this!
I know what sorts of things I need to be studying, no matter which PhD or Masters program I end up in, so get to work!
I’m not a HS or undergraduate college student anymore so this means something different for me than it might for some younger people. I’m in my 30’s and planning on some more graduate work, and what I need to do is to learn to work with myself in studying, rather than against my basic nature. I’ve got to re-focus, and adapt to my own learning style, rather than trying to just sit still for long hours—forcing myself to work in the pattern that so many people tell us is “the right [or only] way to study.”
