Over the past month, I’ve been sleeping so much better. I think these things helped me:
1. Mouth guard – My new dentist looked at my teeth and said I’ve been grinding in my sleep, which is why I have so much tension in my jaw in the morning, why my jaw clicks, etc. He took an impression and had a mouth guard made for me to use while I sleep. I’ve noticed such a difference. The tension in my head is no longer there in the morning. I’m not locking my teeth anymore. What a difference.
2. Unwinding before going to sleep – I’ve been turning off my computer sooner than I used to and getting into bed a little earlier with a book so I can unwind and give my head a rest. I spend way too much time on the computer anyway.
3. Going to bed when I’m truly tired, not when I think I should go to bed – The time varies, sometimes it’s earlier, sometimes it’s later. There’s nothing more frustrating than lying in bed waiting to fall asleep. When that happens, I almost never feel well rested in the morning.
