That’s good since I have been unhappy with my previous task. We hit a situation where the team really needs to pull together to get through this, and I know that the team can do it. I just have to get the rest of the team to understand that we need to work together. Perhaps this is a challenge for me to step up and be a leader? Hmm, I hadn’t thought about that aspect. I’ll work on this next week and see how I do.

Simple, yet true. I am not valued in my current job. I need to move someplace where I am valued – it’s that simple. The irony of this is that I am not valued because I am viewed as a threat to managers who don’t want to know about problems. Instead, they would rather hide problems so that no one thinks there are any. How stupid. How short sighted. Oh well, I give up. If they want to live in a fantasy world, I’ll let them. A bunch of employees are tired of how we are being treated and are planning on leaving. That might wake them up, but I doubt it.
is that I am far more involved when I am working with a team to accomplish a shared goal. Then work is fun, rewarding and worth going. If we aren’t working towards a common goal, then it is frustrating, and I am not engaged. I need to have that goal to work towards.
“The soul must pick work too or we learn later how much we hate our work, causing us to lead lives of quiet desperation.”
- Henry David Thoreau
A nice quote off the 43Things website. And it is so true. I like my current job but I am NOT passionate about it. So, I could either change my attitude or change my job. What would it take to change my attitude about my current job? Or maybe I should be asking how I can get another position at work that fits my values more… That should be possible.
So I need to figure out a problem that I can focus my energy on solving. I feel like I need to do something significant with my life (don’t most people?). It could be anything within a wide range of possiblilities – environmental trips, alternate energy sources, a small farm, something related to GPS locations, a store that specializes in products for older people, consulting…
I need to think about this for a while.
Then after listing them I might be able to narrow down the list into something that I can actually tie into a job.
I am passionate about:
helping animals
caring for the environment
breaking America from it’s dependence on oil
doing something meaningful
Since what I really want is a job I am passionate about. One that fits with my goals and values. A job that I look forward to working on every day. I know they exist and the answer is different for different people. How do I go about finding mine?
