at a Mexican restaurant on Friday. It was fun. There was a good buffet and the group enjoyed going out and relaxing. Afterwards a few people stopped at the bar for a beer. It was the day before a 3 day weekend, so letting off a little steam was fine.
It was fun and I am happy to admit that it was my idea. :)
Work has been interesting/fun. We had some meetings that went fairly well, and I went to lunch with a friend, which I really enjoyed. There were also 2 celebrations at work – one for a group I work with, the other for someone’s birthday. Both were fun and it was nice to have something different happen at work.
Friday evening a friend had a BBQ at her house. I went and met some nice people from Europe who are travelling in the U.S. That was very nice and somewhat unexpected. I need to have friends over more often since I enjoy these events.
July 1st – Dinner at a restaurant I really like with some friends. It’s a Chinese restaurant and the food is really good. We talked and ate, and it was just good fun.
July 2nd – Work meetings that went well. Someone I work with was teasing me about not being able to take a vacation for the remainder of the year. It was a nice morning at work.
July 3rd – There was a little history quiz at work for the 4th. It was fun and I was surprised at things I didn’t remember (and should have) and things I did remember. People really enjoyed it.
Then I went to lunch with a friend, who I am quite fond of. We just had a nice lunch away from work which gave us the chance to talk and get to know each other better. I could use a lunch like this more often.
July 4th – I watched a parade in the morning. I hadn’t been to a Fourth of July parade in 4 years so I decided that I needed to get out and see one. It was quite hot and I ended up standing in the sun all morning, but it was great fun to see all the people having fun and enjoying being a community. I need to do more activities like this. I miss being part of a small community.
I also enjoyed going on a scooter ride – no particular destination. I just rode and enjoyed it.
July 5th – I went to work for a while and took care of an issue. Then I came home and fell asleep for a while since I was really tired. Later I went back to work to talk to my mentor and ask his advice on some problems. We had a nice long talk. I do like my mentor. :)
Pizza at work as a celebration.
Happy hour with some fine people.
Laughing like crazy over funny jokes.
Riding my scooter around town on a beautiful day.
Going to lunch with a good group of friends.
Having friends who will tease you one minute and listen to your problems the next.
Spending time outside playing with the cats.
Having friends who I can ask favors of.
Being able to do favors for my friends.
As I said, lots of positive things have happened lately. :)
Lots of great things have been happening and lots of annoying things. But since I am concentrating on the positive, let’s talk about that.
Work has been challenging lately but that has provided an opportunity to stretch my limits. I have found someone who I can learn from and I like most of the people I work with. That really makes a difference in the day to day goings on.
I have learned that I can accomplish far more than I thought when I am willing to step up and just take charge. Yes, people don’t like it but things need to happen and no one else seems to be willing to step up to the plate.
I guess this task is providing me an opportunity to grow at work.
I love it when the days are sunny and I can spend time outside. I took advantage and cleaned up around the place. And I took some time to smell the roses, which are blooming like crazy.
Some coworkers helped me out with something that some other people had dropped the ball on. It is a bi-weekly gathering of employees that is designed as a team building event. Well, the people who were supposed to help out went to lunch and decided that they were too busy to help out. So my coworkers joined me in getting the necessary items and going on with the event.
That was really nice of them.
We also went to lunch to celebrate someone’s graduation. Fun!
And the weather was absolutely beautiful one morning and I had half a day off of work. :)
I really like going out after work for drinks and discussion with friends. However, it’s a little hard on my body. :( I need to tone it down a bit so that I’ll be able to go to work the next day. No, I don’t drink too much – I think I eat too much. Or maybe I need to get to bed earlier.
Anyway, it’s fun and I think it helps build teams.
So I am spending time working in the yard and playing with the cats. No work today for me! The weeds are gone, the roses are blooming, and it’s just too beautiful to stay indoors!
Which means that I can actually get home and it’s still light out. I have been working in my yard after I get home. And the cats can go outside and play. They love it – they run around chasing each other, roll in the dirt and chase bugs. It’s fun to watch them play even though I have to keep an eye on everyone.
