Yes!! I actually did it – I went out and galleried it up and it was lovely. I love doing that kind of thing on my own, knowing that I can take my time and look at whatever I want. Next stop, Florence!

I will go to one tomorrow afternoon… or actually today if I get a free minute. That would be awesome.
I’ve just started a course on writing and art, it’s really fascinating and makes me wish I paid more attention when my grandma dragged me round exhibitions when I was a kid. Will definitely have to check out the galleries here in Bristol before I leave, and then go to lots of places back home, not just the National and the Tate (although I do love the National, I find it very soothing). One place I can thoroughly recommend to anyone of a literary/scholarly bent is the British Library displays – you don’t have to be a member to see them and they’ve got amazing things like the first folio of Shakespeare, Wordworth’s letters, Owen’s manuscripts etc. I found it really moving the first time I went – there’s something magical about being able to see the handwriting of these amazing and faraway literary figures – it humanises them.
