Oh how cool… I saw this wonderful goal and cheered my last cheer for the day and when I tagged it as something I would like to do, I noticed I was the 43’rd person to share this “thing” I always want to do!

I guess it was just meant to be, me and 43. Having this goal is really meaningful, I think, because for me it represents the best of us in who we are and what we strive to be.

Lemonade, bake sales, girl scout cookies (anything but noxious SCHOOL SALES I support)... Pro-capitalist, anti-authoritarian… Public school programs push their kids to dog hound adults for so many things… I would rather just give those kids donations. Car washes I will do [patron] (if I see the kids out working hard) simply because “Atlas Shrugged” has influenced me.

On the subject of Kismet, did you ever notice the kiddies manage to have their shoppes just at the perfect time? I love their ingenuity, always. Lemon Snow Cream was my favorite creation by our son during the dead doldrums of an ice storm one winter, who proceeded to color a sign using the slogan, “Look—you CAN eat the yellow snow!”

Cheers to them (the kids and parents who encourage them) and to the patronage for learning to say, “Keep the change!”, followed by heaps of honest praise. [To those who don’t know any better, these are pro-social tips for those without kid-friendly etiquette.] Tipping is not just a city in China either, and is very appropriate at one of these locations.

Here’s another tip: I am pretty adult with the kids, in that I compliment precise things about them and their “work”, and I include hints about far-off, dreamy customer wishes. That way, they have pride, encouragement, and their next improvement already set in motion—and the most important part is to continue to encourage trying new, brave and daring things again.

Keep up the lemonade and cookie stands, Babes in Toyland. You will be much better soldiers of fortune in the end! Besides, the world just would never be the same without these little magical elf and pixie places. I hope they continue forever and without end, these little refreshing refreshment stands.

I loved “Bug Juice”, “Freckled Lemonade”, “Pumpkin Punch” and “Yellow Snow” and was grateful to all the other adults and kids who were willing to share the fun with us. Parents-at-large, thank you for encouraging your children, too. If we see them peddling their priceless commodities, we’ll buy some from special treats them, too.
