I did it! Woot. 3 years ago

Well I lived! Yay. No Amber dying. That’s a good thing. I’m happy about that.

Overall today really was not as bad as I was thinking it might be. I went in and I was pretty scared. I was fine when we had to fill out all the paperwork and get signed in and stuff. I was fine when mom and I were reading through magazines, but soon after I was called. Eep. That’s when I really started to get nervous. We walked to a room that was not far at all. I sat in the chair like instructed. First they put the thing that takes your blood pressure around my arm. Of course that was fine. She told me that that would remain on my arm for the whole surgery so they could monitor me. Then she started explaining what was going to happen. It didn’t really sound that bad, but I started getting teary eyed.

She was very nice though and made me feel very comfortable and like it really was going to be fine. She left and then shortly after the doctor came in along with that same lady and a new lady. The doctor showed me my x-ray and explained that this was going to be a very easy surgery. And that that was a good thing. I was happy to hear that. It also reassured me some things that I had read online that were good points to getting this down. I’m young so my bone structure is more flexible. He said my teeth looked great, but that I’d need some stitches on the bottom two teeth. I forget the reason why. So basically it was going to be an easy surgery and would only take about 20 minutes.

After that was when they gave me laughing gas. They put something over my nose for that. Then that’s when they went to go put in the IV. That’s when I was getting kinda scared. They put some freezing spray on my skin so that it would kinda numb it and make me not feel it, but I could feel it still a little bit. They had to do it twice cause the first time, my vein decided to hide so they had to refind it. They did and they got it in the second time. I didn’t look at all, but this was the point where I kinda lost it and started crying. I don’t remember if it was before or after this, I think after, but then they started asking me my summer plans. I talked about Texas and then I remember then going okay open your mouth we need to put this in it to prop your mouth open, so i did, I think and then I was out of it. haha. That’s the last thing I remember.

Next I woke up and I was in the recovery room. They said before that they’d wake me up in the room where my surgery was, but I didn’t remember being awake again in there. I do know they they said I did great which even at 18, made me feel good. lol. The recovery room is where I got to see my mom again, but I didn’t really get to talk to her cause of all the gauze in my mouth. Geez, my mouth bleed for forever! My goodness. My mouth was so numb too so that didn’t help with the talking so I ended up texting my mom with what I was trying to say. lol. I guess all the assistants said I was being really funny after surgery I think cause of the laughing gas. Like I kept laughing at them and stuff. lol. One lady was like, wow we must be funny and we’re not even saying anything. haha. I really liked them. They were cool.

My mom left the recovery room to go pull the car up to the front and the first lady that I saw in the room, walked me out to my moms car. She was like, aww, this is like prom. And another lady was like, you guys make such a cute couple. lol. And she was like Thanks! Like my dress? lol. I really wanted to say something, but I couldn’t again cause of all the gauze and what not. But it was great. I never went to prom so that was kinda cool that she said that. I don’t know. Maybe I’m a dork.

Oh yeah, she was awesome too cause before the surgery she was like, have you ever had a couple of beers? And I was like, yes. And she was like, that’s how you’ll feel right before surgery. So I was kinda thinking, awesome. lol. She was like yeah, I wasn’t sure if you would have, but I was like you never know she might have. How cool. Yay for cool people. :)

So overall even if I am in pain tomorrow I think it was worth it to get it done and over with. Everything so far has been great and the staff was AMAZING! I should seriously right them a letter telling them how much I appreciated them being so cool about everything. Especially the lady. I have no idea what her name was though. :(

P.S. So it’s the second day and no pain so far! :) Yay.

Omg, nervous. 3 years ago

I went to the dentist today for a cleaning. Scheduled an appointment to get two cavities filled on June 29th. They also said my wisdom teeth need to come out, too. So they referred me to an oral surgeon and I went home to call them and see if I could get in at all in June since I’m moving across the United States at the end of June. haha. Want to get all my dental work done before I leave and have no insurance. Fun.

Anyways, I got in and I picked the 27th as my last day of work is the 25th and then we have a family function type of thing on the 26th so I didn’t want to be all swollen for that.

Needless to say, I’m a bit scared. Never had surgery before. Never wanted too and I always thought I could make it through life without it. Guess not. Hopefully it’s not too bad seeing as I’m driving to where I’m moving too on the 29th basically right after my cavities are filled. My goodness. I have a feeling that I’m really going to hate the dentist after that week.
