get involved with the McKinney Act

So I just graduated with my masters degree and I wrote my thesis on educating homeless students. The McKinney Act mandates that homeless students may not be denied enrollment into the regular education classroom despite any lack of student records or immunizations. This Act was implemented in an effort to ensure homeless students with the same free and appropriate education (FAPE) as their housed peers without segregation.
Now, I’m going into my first year of teaching with my eyes wide open and so many opportunities to capitalize on. Wherever my career may take me, my hope is that I will be able to continue my involvement with this population and work towards making them more successful in the classroom and in life.
