I’m so much more interested in taking care of myself! I’m majorly changing my eating habits and I’ve really REALLY cut back on the wine. I used to have it (or vodka) almost every day because..it makes me easygoing and fun. Now, I’m quitting my adderrall and my real personality which IS easygoing and super fun and goofy is starting to come back on its own…no alcohol required. :D I guess I just wanted to feel like myself again.
About the beauty thing…I was tanning and paying big bucks for a bikini wax every six weeks, but certain circumstances have caused us to need to cut back financially. So I quit tanning and have started walking outside in the sunshine to get my vitamin d and avoid sickly paleness. I plan to buy my own hard wax and do wax touchups at home. :)
We have one car, so I pick up my husband from work every day. We train in muay thai 3 days a week right after work, so I show up in workout duds on those days. But on days with no workout, I show up looking my best (or at least as cute as I can manage) and come inside his building to pick him up.
He told me how much he loves it! He says it is the best part of his day, after a hard, stressful day at work to see me looking cute for him and smiling/happy to see him. Being cute makes him happy so I’m happy to be a bright spot in his life instead of another stress.
So ladies: even if you have confidence issues, even if you’ve gained weight since marriage (I have, yikes! Working on it as we speak, but that’s an entry for another goal), even if you’re tired and don’t feel like it, or would rather do anything than your hair on a day when you aren’t doing anything special…DO IT ANYWAY. Would you try to look your best if you were going to see someone important and respected?
Of course.
Guess what? Your husband is important, and he’d LOVE to feel respected, especially if he isn’t getting that feeling at work. If you consistently make an effort to look nice for him, (read: a little sexy!) he will notice and appreciate.
Ok, that’s my soapbox, I gotta go dry my hair :D
BONUS POINTS! Your husband appreciating your looks will give you more confidence and boost your mood
