Meditation Practice?

Is this a religous thing for you? Does posture and breathing play into your practice? When do you meditate? How do you keep from going to sleep?

I’ve read several books on Zen meditation but they all say that one needs a teacher (which leaves me asking why I bought the book). I just don’t see myself becoming part of a meditating community. It seems like such a private activity.



Not Om but Hmmmm???

Taking just a few short minutes in the morning to reflect on a truth or a goal or just a nice though really does make a difference. Most of the time I’m too busy checking my email or reading the news or eating oatmeal to take time to meditate. On top of that, I go to a meeting once a week where people sit around and extol the vietues of mediattion. What’s wrong with me?
