I had to contain myself while at the container store today, because I wanted to buy EVERYTHING! I LOVE that store!!! I got a lot of useful stuff to help get things organized around here. When I got home, I organized the laundry area and my sock drawer. It actually opens easily now without shoving it closed…hooray!

It’s been forever since I’ve updated most of my goals on here, especially this one. I can’t remember what all I’ve done since my last entry, but one of the best things I did was finally get around to organizing my baking and pan cabinet. It was such a HUGE mess, and I would get depressed and angry just opening the door to get something out!
I finally sat down one day and decided to take everything out and reorganize. I was planning to put some of the items I don’t use very often into storage somewhere else in the house or garage, but by the time I was finished, everything fit neatly in the cabinet, plus I still had room for more! Just goes to show you how a little organization goes a LONG way!
David finally got some display cabinets for his collections, so he moved out some of the old shelves from the guest bedroom, and opened up some more space in there. It looks a lot better already.
I got a table, shelving unit, and some bins and other things and organized my crafting area a bit. It still needs some tweaking, but now everything is mostly in one location and not strewn about the house anymore.
I got some really cool containers for Christmas too for storing Christmas paper, lights, ornaments, and other stuff. I also got a whole set of these lock n lock containers for food storage, which I LOVE! I had a few already, and these are really great.
I’m going to The Container Store tomorrow (which I LOVE!!!) to get some stuff, and I can’t wait! One of the top things on the list is some bins for the laundry to finally get that area organized too.
I am determined that this is the year I will finish this goal and really get a LOT done!
For now anyway. We moved them to the top two shelves of our massive bookcase, but I’m sure David will fill that up very soon, because there’s only room for a few more now. I’m just so happy all those CDs are off the floor and off that hideous tiny shelf thing, and we have more space in the room. We’ve gotten a lot done in the office, and there’s not too much more left. After we finish getting everything straightened up, I can concentrate on REALLY organizing things, like obsessive organize with all kinds of labels and colors and baskets and bins and drawers, and it will be awesome!
Today I cleaned off the shelf in the living room, the top of the cabinet, and the top of the entertainment center. I also got the Christmas gifts spreadsheet and money spreadsheets put together and updated.
I’m so happy, because we got a LOT done yesterday. We finally got to work on the office last night. We packed up a bunch of old books and other items that we don’t want or need anymore, and David is going to take them to the thrift store. We cleaned out one corner and got rid of the ugly little bookshelf that was starting to bend. There is still a lot to be done in there, but we put a huge dent in it last night, so that makes me pretty darn happy.
Now that the foster cats are gone, we can clean out the guest bedroom. We still have a little bit left to do, but so far we have-
- moved everything out of the room
- vacuumed several times
- steam cleaned the carpet
- fogged for fleas
- moved a lot of stuff back into the room
- bought new poster frames
- put posters in frames
Things we need to do to complete the room-
- touch up paint on walls
- hook up tv/ dvd player/ stereo
- hang posters
- hang painting
- clean out closet and organize
- move other items back in
- wash sheets and comforter
Sometime in the future we also need to buy some cabinets to display David’s collectibles.
I have a cabinet in my living room that is filled on one side with cake and candy making supplies and filled on the other side by board games. I also have a lot of cake and candy stuff in a cabinet in my kitchen near the stove and a couple shelves in the pantry.
I made three cakes this past weekend, and on Sunday as I was cleaning, I decided to try to organize and clean up some of my stuff. Every time I go to make a cake, I can’t find things, I have to dig other things out and lots of stuff I never use is always in the way.
So, on Sunday, I took everything from all three places out, sat in the middle of the floor and threw things away, put things together that were the same and did a little organizing. Now everything is in my green cabinet and the other spaces are free for other things! I still don’t have the cabinet as organized as I would like, but I need some more little containers to seperate things before I can work on it much more. It’s much neater now, and it continues to amaze me how happy it makes me every time I organize something new.
I seem to be doing pretty well lately, so hopefully I can keep on this track.
I haven’t been working on this goal much lately, because things have just been so crazy! But yesterday, David and I emptied out the closet in the office and threw out all the junk and put some things back in a more orderly, organized fashion! It feels so good to get that done. We even had room for both vacuum cleaners to fit in there. Now we just need a home for the carpet cleaner too, which will happen when we can get to the closet in the spare room after the cats are gone!
I’m really glad we did this too, because accomplishing something helps me to get motivated again!
but last night I got a little motivated, and now I’m looking forward to going home and getting some things accomplished.
I didn’t get anything major accomplished, but we did a lot of cleaning this weekend, and I did work on some organizing. I cleaned out and organized some stuff in the master closet. I cleaned out the cabinet in the bathroom. We got two new trash cans (one for plastic bottles to recycle, one for cat waste to keep oustide) and some other little things to help keep everything straight.
