I have no idea what all has been done in that time. I do know that we did paint the front door again so that it is all one color. We are in the process this weekend of installing wood flooring in the living room. We’ve also redone the bathroom with new paint, new cabinets, sink, etc. We put a new vanity in the other bathroom, finally got a new light for the laundry room, and I’m not sure what else.
There are lots of little projects left to finish up or work on, but the big projects we still want to tackle include-
- New siding
- New roof
- New windows
- Build a back patio
- Make an island in the front yard
- Finish the backyard fence
- Tile the kitchen and laundry room
That’s all I can think of for now. After we finish putting the floors down, we’re going to finish all the little things that never got completed first before moving on to the next project.

We have a few unfinished projects we have to finish first and some other bigger projects that may be a while still.
Unfinished
- paint bathroom shelf
- finish patches in bathroom
- paint over patches
- fix back door and screen door
- repaint the front door
Big Stuff
- new siding
- tile kitchen and laundry room
- fix up garage
- new windows
- new roof
Other Stuff
- repaint the front porch
- install new light in laundry room
The sad thing about repainting the front door is this- There were some patches were the paint had chipped off or the old color was showing through. So, before Christmas, David went back and did some painting to fix those spots. After it dried, however, he realized he used the wrong red, so our door is two different colors in patches! Now he has to go back and paint the whole thing again!

before we start anything new. So we’ve been working on that. David patched up the holes in the bathrooms and sanded and painted over them. We’ve put up almost all the fence panels, the waterfall has been installed and all the mulch put out. Just a couple more things to finish and we can move on to the next thing.

Well, it looks like I may have to add “buy a new garage door or at least opener” to my list. It won’t open or close now. This morning, I had to get out of the car and open it manually, drive out, then get out and close it myself. That also made me think that I’m not too happy about my garage door. It shouldn’t have been as easy as it was to open and close it. It seems to me like anyone could get in if they wanted. That’s not very secure!

We finally got the storm door installed. I’ll probably have to get my dad to come over and help, because I noticed that the regular door has a gap on the side near the bottom. It gets bigger as you go down the door. And some of the trim on the outside is rotting, I think. So, we may need to replace and fix some of that still.
I also bought the waterfall yesterday, so we just have to get the tiller fixed or go rent one, so we can get started on the pond bed!

We bought it in September 2004. It looked awful, and we had to do a lot of work to make it livable. The carpet was a bright blue and stained with holes. We had to replace all of it. Also had to paint the ceilings and ALL the doors, walls, and trim. It literally looked like people rolled around in the dirt and then rolled themselves on the walls! There were broken windows and the garage had multi-colored zig-zag patterned carpet and an old airline counter with a sink behind it. There was a lot of more, but it would take all day to list.
Right now the things I want to accomplish to mark this as done include
- Plant trees
- Get a new roof
- Replace all the windows
- Replace storm door- Purchased, just needs installed
- Install waterfall and add plants to surrounding area
- Spruce up the front and back yards
- Tile kitchen and laundry room
