You cook cornmeal until it’s stiff enough to form into a mound. This requires a lot of stirring & patience, plus the proper ratio of cornmeal to water. The mound of ugali is then placed on the table for all to use. Pinch off a little piece & roll it into a ball. Flatten it & use it to scoop up the other food on your plate, such as stew. It’s great fun to eat, and, surprisingly, my daughter loves it!
