there’s just something about california that i love and i won’t settle until i’ve been to la..walked down sunset blvd, laurel canyon, long beach, downtown etc! i’m saving up at the moment through my job at a telephone marketing company to go, hopefully this summer. at the moment i’m going by myself and travelling around a bit, but i’m trying to persade a friend to come too. i’m bummed that you have to be 21 to hire a car though, could have done it the proper way with an open top banger! route 66?!
all the university courses i have applied for have semesters and years abroad in california or other states, so hopefully by 2009 or 2010 i’ll have completed this goal! LA is also the ideal place to go for what i want to do career wise – art directing films etc, and generally just living in colour and being able to do art. apparently it was the place to go for freedom of thought and expression, art music, etc, in the 80’s. i know it’s become very fake in lots of ways due to celebrities such as paris hilton and the whole “blonde fake boobs” image, but i’m convinced there are areas of inspiration there!
