I read through the application and the info on the Breadloaf site, and now I’m no longer convinced that this is a good idea. The main problem: It’s too expensive, almost $2000. They have some financial aid, but it doesn’t cover everything. At the least, I would pay $1200. I’d rather spend that money on Penland, so I guess Breadloaf is out for now.
This is the goal I want to focus on right now, as the deadline to submit a manuscript is March 19th. Today I downloaded the application form and printed it out. The next step is to decide what work I want to send. The word limit is 6000. A short story would probably be the best…
