run a 5k

I have been putting this off for years and hopefully this is “the year” that I finally complete this goal. MY DH wants to do one in the spring, so maybe I can get motivated to do it too.

I’m not sure I will be ready for the March 1st run. I haven’t been able to train much with the messed up weather we have been having the last month or so. If I don’t make it to that one I will do another this year.

I am going to be doing my first 5k on March 1, 2008. Everyone around me has been very encouraging. Even DH says he might train and run with me. I will be going out tomorrow for my first session. I know I don’t have much time, but if I put my mind to it I CAN do anything.

I have changed my goal from run a marathon to run a 5k. I really need to start out o a smaller scale than I was on. If I can do a 5k then maybe I’ll believe that I can do a half. I just need to work up to the marathon.

I started this goal last year with the hope of being in shape for a marathon by this April. They have marathons for the KY Derby Festival and I thought that I could sign up for one of those, but I’m really not in shape for it. I hope to really get back into this goal and be able to do it next April. I feel guilty because I didn’t push myself to try harder. I’m going to keep this goal up and I WILL do this next April.

I am totally out of shape. If I worked at it for a year or so I think I could do a Mini marathon. People I know run several a year and I would love to try.
