I don’t give up. I still believe.
I don’t give up. I still believe.
I was rejected by a publisher yesterday.
An editor from a well-known publishing house contacted me today. She was very interested in the work and has submitted it to the editorial board in her publishing house.
The board will meet later next week to decide if they want to publish my book.
I called about 8 publishing houses tonight. I had to call several numbers more than 10 times (of course not in a roll :-P) before someone picked it up.
Anyway, 3 editors accepted my partial manuscript to look through.
Tomorrow will be the weekend in China again, so no more cold callings until Sunday night.
I am thinking of taking this weekend to add few thousand words to my manuscript. I will be more ready when someone does ask for the whole package.
Off to bed. I am so tired. I hope all these hard work will be rewarded one day.
I’ve been cold calling 20+ Chinese publishing houses in the past couple of nights. I had to make the calls during the night because the time difference between here and China. Luck that my home phone can call China for free, otherwise I couldn’t afford the calls.
Anyway, out of the 20+ publishing houses I called, 4 or 5 editors gave me their email accounts over the phone and had me send them parts of my manuscript.
Today, I got an email reply from the first editor I sent the partial manuscript to. She said she enjoyed the part I sent over and asked for the rest.
I will be calling more publishing houses before this week ends. Now it is 4:51am and I just wrapped up today’s cold calling.
As the original publishing house has not got back to me yet, I better take it as an indication that they are not interested in publishing it. So I’ve been calling publishing houses around in China and got a couple of editors to accept my work to “check it out”.
Everything is in suspense.
I’ve been waiting to hear back from the publisher.
It’s been a week.
I have strong faith in myself and my goal. The book is done and it will be published by September.
I submitted the novel to a publisher in China today.
This is a big step in getting it published. I will hear back from the publisher tomorrow on their thoughts.
Things are getting exciting.
I don’t know why, but I feel a big burden off my shoulder. I guess all the hard work for the past month is for this moment. My job is almost done. Things are beyond my control now.
Wish me luck!
P.S. Before I sent off the draft, I edit it for a last time and added 2700 words. That stressed me out. Glad it was done.
I was doing research on publishing contract today and talked with people in the field in China for advice.
I will have to start dealing with legal document craps from next week.
Deep breath. One thing at a time. Patience! Patience! Don’t explode.
Everything is moving along as scheduled. Good. Good.
One more deeeeep breath.
