Create art regularly

Not only do I want to focus on the visual arts (drawing, painting, craftwork, graphic design etc.), but I also want to create other kinds of art as well, such as music, literature and food. My goal for 2011 is to improve my artistic skills!

It’s been so long since I’ve drawn anything. Today I did a black and white portrait drawing (copied the photo on a magazine cover), and it wasn’t so bad. Using a much harder/darker pencil, maybe 7B instead of 3B, probably would’ve made the overall effect better.

I know I still have a lot to improve, but I’m happy that my finished work resembles the actual photo more than my previous portrait sketches did (they still looked like real people, just not the ones I was trying to draw).

Right now my goal is to practice copying faces and facial features, and fill my current art book with pencil portraits.

I used to be really good at art but then due to schoolwork becoming more challenging, I stopped drawing =/

I will take it up again when I have free time once more, which will probably be in June next year.
