work less

Started my new job about a month ago and I am loving it. I am only required to work 37.5 hours and even If I put a bit overtime it never goes over 45 hours. The stress is less, the environment is better and considering I used to work 60-70 hours a week at my old job I couldn’t be happier in terms for work hours.

I got the receipt for my immigration paperwork and turned my resignation letter. I am working almost 70 hours and trying to finish the semester but It will all be over soon. My last day at the company is on May 9th and I start my new job the day after :)

I have already accepted the offer letter of another employer but I am waiting for some immigration paperwork to be completed before I submit my 2 week notice. No software developer in the new company works overtime. They actually get to leave earlier on fridays. Besides the lack of overtime, this is a great opportunity for me since they have stock options, good benefits and they gave me a better pay and position in the company :) Can’t wait to get started !

Unfortunately, if I am not always working overtime for my full time job I am most of the times overloaded with school work. Lately, I have tried to gradually reduce my overtime at work and when possible reduce the time I spend for school. It is hard for me because I have high standards in everything I do but I am starting to realize that it is not always possible or even rewarding.
