Today I ran my first 10k race.
I got a time of 53 minute 50 seconds. Am really happy with that, my aim was to do it in under an hour. So now my next goal is to do it in under 50 minutes.

I’ve now got 6 days till my 10k race!
Went for a training run today, ran 10k in 58 minutes. Not a bad time, hopefully I’ll break 55 minutes on race day. I did stop to walk a few times on my practise run today so if I remove those walks in the race, 55 minutes should be achievable
I tried an interval run tonight, really wore me out, you run for 500m at a slow jog, then run 500m fast, then 500m slow, and so on…. I did about 4km in total and totally knackered myself.
It’s meant to help you improve your regular running pace if you do it enough.
I got up at half five this morning and was out running before 6AM!!! I managed a 5km run in 25:15 though, so a new PB for me! I’ll run a 10k run this Wednesday evening, and will do that in under an hour hopefully.
I left the house before 6am this morning, managed to run 5km in 25:15, a new PB for me!!!
Felt really hard, because I’d just got out of bed, it was really cold too, so my arms and hands were freezing for most of the run, warmed up towards the end though.
Am very happy with my new time, would like to bring that under 25 minutes if I can.
Did a long training run for the 10k race in April. Did 17.5km in just under two hours. Kept a good pace, but did get blisters, so have invested in blister proof running socks (running socks are expensive!!!)
I went out for a run tonight, wasn’t planning to, but was sat around at home feeling restless and thought sod it, let’s go!
I jogged for a bit, then thought “maybe I could try beating half an hour for 5km again”, so I went for it, and I beat 5km in 27:20, which my new PB (personal best), I slowed down to a slow jog, then picked up the pace as I rna into town, by the time I was runnign home, I checked the Garmin and had ran 8.5km! I thought, okay then, so we’re doing 10k tonight are we? I pushed on, turned up the MP3 player and went for it, ended up getting to 10k in 58:37, very happy, might have to re-think my goal for the race to under 55 minutes!!!
Keep pushing people, you cna only get better!!! ;-)
I’ve done two more runs with the Garmin now. It’s really cool. I’m using it to track my heart rate to stop myself from wearing myself out to quickly, so I try to run and keep my heart rate below a certain number.
I rna 10k the other day with it in just over an hour, and tonight I ran 6k in 38 minutes, which is pretty good. Am trying to get my pace down to under an hour for 10k. The race is now 6 weeks away!
My parents just bought me a Garmin running watch for my birthday. I’ve tried it on one short run and it works really well. I’ve now got some more motivation to get out running and acheive this goald by completing the 10k race in April.
I ran 5km on Wednesday without walking at all. It took me 27 minutes 45 seconds, not a bad time. I’m doing another long distance run this weekend, then will do 5km again during the week to see if I cna improve my time.
After that I’ll do a 7km run without walking a week later and keep working up like that, so I should be doing 10km without walking in about four weeks time, then I cna start working on my times. The race is in 8 weeks time, so I will have done at least a few 10km runs without walking before then and have a good idea of the pace to stick to and the time I’ll get. I’m aiming for under an hour, but would be good to beat 50 minutes too.
