In the last month and a half I’ve seen:
- Avengers
- Snow White & The Huntsman
- Rock of Ages (twice)
For me, that’s quite a lot of movie going, since my average of seeing movies in the theater is usually one or two a year.

I went to the movies twice this week and saw
The Dark Knight
A great piece of entertainment—but I have to admit I liked Batman Begins a little more. Heath Ledger was fantastic as the Joker, which… is very sad considering he’s gone. A standout performance though that won’t be forgotten though.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
A huge disappointment for a lot of reasons – and I was rooting for the bad guy, but I’m partial to faerietale and folklore. There were some funny moments, and I ended up crying when the Elemental got shot, but there were too many plot issues for this one to be entirely enjoyable.
I saw Pan’s Labyrinth at the local indie cinema this past weekend. Interesting film, not what I was expecting and not my usual ‘cup of tea’ as it were as far as films go but I’m glad I saw it nonetheless.
DVD-wise I watched Wilde with Stephen Fry in mid-January. Great film about a rather tragic figure, I cried.
I saw all four of these bands last night; what an amazing concert. Aside from being disappointed with Shadow Demon for just not being my thing and Waking Hour for getting rid of their lead singer, Epica was amazing and so was Kamelot. Definitely worth the price of admission just for those two bands (which were the reasons I went in the first place).
Went to see Styx in concert this past Wednesday. What a blast! My only complaint was since it was at a fair, there were lots of people getting up and walking to and from seats the entire time. Great music though – they did “Too Much Time On My Hands”, “Lorelei”, “Lady”, “Come Sail Away”, and a bunch of others. And IMHO, Lawrence Gowan does a fine job of taking over where Dennis DeYoung left off. He really stole the show a few times and he’s quite the powerhouse to watch. Very glad I decided to go, and the tickets were in the fourth row of the grandstands so it was pretty good as far as a view of the stage went.
Have a good start on this goal – I went to see Finish metal band Sonata Arctica in concert this past February, and I have tickets to see Styx in concert next week and also Kamelot and Epica in October. Gods willing, I’ll be seeing David Bowie in concert next May.
