This past weekend in Seattle I saw the perfect fabric for the re-do of the masquerade coat. Sparkly in both sunlight and shade, and so vibrant! It was on a coat someone was wearing at the Seattle Pride Parade so alas, I was not able to inquire after what it was or where they got it. But now, I am on a hunt!
I have some time, however. I’m taking a break from this goal while I focus on others. By the time I make another Jareth costume, I want my body to carry off the illusion of genderbending better than I do now. Hopefully hitting the gym 5-6 times a week will eventually pay off.

This past July I attended Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade XIII and ended up making the Blue Ballroom costume. Definitely not satisfied with the end result so I’m considering it Version 1.0 and will eventually make another but it works for now. The pattern and fabric I used ended up being stiffer than what was needed so it didn’t hang right and the color was not quite spot on. I’m a glutton for trying to replicate the clothing as closely as possible to the original so clearly it’s not good enough!
So, as of now, 4 out of 7 completed.
Completed: Blue Ballroom Costume
Completed: Brown Coat Costume
Completed: Magic Dance Costume
Completed: Entrance Costume

Brown Coat Costume: Completed.
I wore it to Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade. I want to do some upgrades to it, but overal I’d fairly pleased with the outcome.

This past weekend I bought 10 yards of shimmering blue satin taffeta. It’s beautiful. It’s perfect.
Now to order the $200.00 in gemstones.

Second Jareth costume completed and already been worn to FaerieCon in Philadelphia; though I have to admit I’m considering this Jareth Entrance Costume Version 1.0 because there are so many things I want to do to improve upon it.
Next up – the Blue Masquerade Costume. Though I’m not going to work on that one until April, after I finish getting in shape. Since there’s so much tailoring work to be done on that, it would be silly to make it and then have to do a bunch of adjustments.

I just need to finish adding some boning to the cape and make a couple small adjustments to the collar – and then I’ll have my second completed Jareth costume.

I’m exactly one week away from attending FaerieCon in Pennsylvania and I’ve got a second Jareth costume in the works and close to being finished. I’m really excited since I’ve put a lot of work into this one – it’s not perfect and I’m considering it my “prototype” for when I make one exactly how I want it, but it’s been a good learning experience on how to make things like stand up collars and working with fiberglass.

I have one costume, ‘sort of’ for this goal – the Magic Dance costume, but there’s a lot of be improved upon for it. Visually it works and people will know what character I’m dressing as, but I’m a stickler for details and I want things to be a accurate as possible when making costumes based out of films.
That said, I finally sucked it up and ordered proper wigs to style and spray dye. I’m already pleased with how they look.
