i finally have something to contribute here! i’m so bad for starting things, then frogging them when i change my mind about what to do with the yarn. i have this gorgeous seaweedy wool that has been made into three-quarters of a sweater four times now. i like the yarn so much i want what i make with it to be something i’ll really really like and will wear, but nothing i’ve started has completely grabbed me once i begin to glimpse how it’s going to turn out.
anyway, the above was inspired by a pattern called Anouk found on knitty.com. the cotton i chose was a smaller gauge, so i just figured, being brilliant like i am, that i’d just knit one of the larger sizes and everything would be fine. well, it would have been if the pattern was based exclusively on row numbers, but it’s not. its size is based mostly on measured length in centimeters or inches, so the garment began to look too long and narrow. i had to pull it out a few times to turn it into something that looked more normal. hopefully it will still fit a human.
all things considered, i’m pleased with the outcome.

just in case you haven’t discovered it yet, i wanted to let you all know about my favourite online knitting site: knitty.com
check it out if you haven’t already. it’s a free, hip, quarterly online knitting magazine. if you click on “archives” it has all of the previously offered patterns organised by type of garment.

half of this battle is just not starting new projects until i’ve finished the last one.
the problem is, starting new projects is really, really fun.
