The thing about the daily emails is that it’s really easy to let them build up until there are 3 or 4 and I just read them quickly. I fail to REMEMBER the word of the day. Also, they seem to have gone flaky lately – I’ve only gotten about 3 in the last week.
So I picked up a page a day french calendar – 2 weeks late, so I’ll double up on weekends/word I know. I figure this way I can carry the word around with me all day and look at it at odd moments. (I guess I could have written out the word/phrase from the emails, huh?) But $4 was worth it to avoid having to find 350 small pieces of paper and remember to do that every morning.
I’m going to try to take that extra 30 seconds a day and listen to the audio for the phrase of the day… I know – it seems like that should be nothing, but I’m not doing it now, and I think it will help. (Basically this means I should save it to read/listen at home, because I’m sure it will just amuse the heck out of the cube farm to hear me repeating my french phrase of the day.)
There is some advertising in the email, but it doesn’t just pick baby words, and putting each one in a phrase really helps. There’s also audio for the word and phrase, which if I was really good, I would have checked out by now.
subscribed to an emailed word of the day. if it’s not crappy, I’ll link to it. At least it’s doing something towards this..
and the bits about how they just played language records constantly, without trying to learn.. I need to get back into doing that. I was listening to tapes in the car over the summer, but as busy as I am with school in session, it’s really too much to have my poor head deal with btwn work and school… but maybe I should dub a few and just play them while I’m playing video games or doing dishes at home.
