Go to the dentist

Since early this year, I’ve gone to the dentist 15 or 16 times. After my crash, I needed some dental work done. Almost all of this came out of my pocket. I’ve had 6 teeth crowned to the tune of $1200/tooth. One more left to go and my wallet lighter by ten thousand dollars, I’ll be taking a break for a while.

Well, I guess I kinda have to do this now. Last weekend, I got into a bicycle crash that left me with a skull fracture, a jaw broken in three places, and four broken teeth that I know of.

After my upcoming jaw repair surgery, I am going to need to make an appointment to get my broken teeth fixed. Having decaying molars is one thing. Having broken incisors, now that’s another entirely.

About five years ago, I had some crowns installed, including a temporary crown. I acquired the temporary crown because one of my teeth needed a crown and I had exhausted my company’s dental plan in two visits (while working 90+ hours a week for squat). I still have a number of active cavities. While I don’t look like a haggard toothless bum or Austin Powers, it would still behoove me to find a local dentist and the time to go visit him or her.

Since I live in the Silicon Valley, they almost always want two months before they’ll let you visit. Besides, how do you pick a dentist out of all the store fronts in the fourth-largest metro area in America? I picked the last one at random.

Perhaps now that I’m making decent money (at least temporarily), I should get this taken care of.
