friend of mine has a saying:
if you’re early you’re on time,
if you’re on time you’re late, and
if you’re late you’re fired.
....
since being threatened with “one more lateness and you’re suspended two weeks” i’ve been consistently on time to my hospitaljob (except once when i found a flat tire one AM). i know that’s not real self discipline, but i have proven to myself that i can do it consistently.
i must make a point to prepare to leave BEFOREHAND: bag my wallet, iPod, notes, snack… grab my watch & keys, etc.
so far the BEST lifehack has been to set out my clothes (& anything else) the night before, so i don’t have to sweat over it during the mad dash.
i must say, when I’m driving to work and i know I’m gonna be early, i am so much more relaxed and happy. maybe this is something most on-time people already feel, but for myslf it’s worth remarking.
